Biographical Sketch:
1995-1997 Epidemiologist - Emory University School of Public Health 1997-1999 Epidemiologist - CDC/DBMD/Respiratory Diseases Branch 1999-Present Epidemiologist CDC/DHQP/Surveillance Branch -Provided microbiology content expertise, vocabulary expertise, and HL7 expertise for the development of a standard HL7 3 message for the electronic transmission of Microbiology, Pharmacy, and Admission, Discharge, Transfer data. -Coordinate development of a standard HL7 2.5 message for the electronic transmission of Microbiology, Pharmacy, and Admission, Discharge, Transfer data. -Designed SQL databases. -Coordinate implementation and validation of HL7 2.5 message. -Validate electronic algorithms for the identification of bloodstream infections for healthcare surveillance. -Support EIS officer and divisional staff in SAS training, analyses and data management activities. -SAS server configuration/maintenance for The National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) and internal NHSN analysis. -Developed and implemented the real-time web-based analysis capability of the Division of Healthcare Quality and Promotion’s Bloodstream Infection prototype which was the web-based precursor of NHSN. -Analyzed data from multiple public use sources. These include Census data, NCHS National Hospital Discharge Survey, NCHS Mortality files, American Hospital Association Annual Survey, Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project. -Geocode healthcare facilities for NHSN reporting.
