Biographical Sketch:
Mr. Nitschke is a project manager in the Outbreak Management Program at CDC in the National Center for Public Health Informatics, Division of Integrated Surveillance Systems and Services (NCPHI / DISSS). He is currently managing the Outbreak Management Interoperability project which aims to establish linkages and data exchange among installations of Epi Info™, the Outbreak Management System (OMS), and the Countermeasure and Response Administration system (CRA). Before this, Mr. Nitschke oversaw the Epi Info™ development project which was recently moved into an open source collaborative work space. Since joining CDC in 2000, Mr. Nitschke has participated in many projects including the creation of a prototype of the Mesh4x data synchronization adapter for Epi Info™; the translation component of the National Egyptian Disease Surveillance System; the web-based Weekly Seasonal Influenza Reporting portal; and the Epi Info Check Code Import Tool. Prior to working with CDC, Mr. Nitschke was an Information Analyst / System Engineer with Electronic Data Systems (EDS) skilled in various programming languages and databases including C, Visual Basic, Access and SQL Server. Mr. Nitschke holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, with minor concentrations in Environmental Science and Computer Science.
