Monitoring Cervical Precancer and Cancers HPV DNA Type Distribution using the National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR)

S. Deblina Datta, Division of STD Prevention, CDC, 1600 Clifton Road MS E-02, Atlanta, GA, USA

The NPCR is a statewide population-based system of cancer registries in 45 states. Cancer registration is the fundamental method in the United States to systematically collect data about incidence and types of cancer. In addition to ongoing efforts for cervical cancer registration, three central (state-based) cancer registries will be funded to register and collate data on cervical precancers as well as perform HPV typing of cervical cancer cases. Attempts will be made to link the data from cancer registries to other morbidity and mortality data such as state based immunization registries to obtain HPV vaccination information.
