Summary: | Background/Purpose: Chlamydia (CT) rates remain high among adolescents; schools are an obvious place to reach adolescents. Implementing & sustaining a school-based STD screening program poses many challenges. Baltimore, Indian Health Services (IHS), New Orleans (NO), New York City (NYC) and Philadelphia have experience with school-based screening programs. Though each program differs in method, scope, and funding there are many shared experiences. Objectives of Symposium: To present different models of school-based screening and provide lessons learned from various program areas. Implications for Programs, Policy, and/or Research: The combined experience of a variety of programs throughout the country will inform programs interested in embarking on school-based screening. |
