Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Vic Spain is a public-health veterinarian who heads the Epidemiology Unit for the Division of Disease Control, Philadelphia Department of Public Health. Dr. Spain has a doctorate in epidemiology and a background in statistics. As head of the Epidemiology Unit, Dr. Spain oversees the epidemiological activities of all the Division programs, including public-health surveillance initiatives and research studies. Dr. Spain oversees many analytic functions of the Philadelphia STD Control Program, including evaluating the Philadelphia High School STD Screening Program.
Dr. Spain teaches epidemiology for the MPH program at Thomas Jefferson University and is a frequent lecturer at other Universities in Philadelphia.
