Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Jim Beebe has been in charge of the Microbiology laboratories of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment since 1988. He and his staff have been involved in the ConAgra and Hudson Foods E. coli outbreaks, the West Nile virus response, the Denver Zoo Salmonella outbreak and numerous others. He is the author of nearly fifty peer-reviewed publications, editorials and book chapters. Prior to joining the Department, Dr. Beebe taught medical and graduate students at Cornell University Medical College and directed private clinical reference laboratories for Quest Laboratories and LabCorp. Jim is a graduate of Seton Hall University--Batchelor's and Master of Science degrees, and Rutgers--PhD in Microbiology, and is board-certified by American Board of Medical Microbiology. Jim the recipient of the 1996 Jacoe award for scientific leadership in public health presented by the Colorado Public Health Association.
