Biographical Sketch:
On staff of Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Sexually Transmitted Disease Program since 1992. Has participated in six major syphilis social marketing campaigns, including "It's Back It's Curable" (2000), "Shed Some Light on Syphilis" (2001), "Stop the Sores" (2002 - 2005), and "Check Tourself" (2007), all of which were designed to promote syphilis testing among men who have sex with men (MSM), and two linked campaigns, "I Know," and "Do You Know," designed to promote chlamydia and gonorrhea testing among women of color and youth of color, repsectively. "It's Back It's Curable" also included an internet chat room component. Participated in evaluating the impact of "Stop the Sores" through surveys in 2002 and 2004. Both surveys found that individuals exposed to the campaign were significantly more likely to have tested for syphilis in the previous 6 months.
