Biographical Sketch:
Stephen Kowalewski is the Senior Public Health Advisor assigned to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, STD Program and serves as part of the Senior Management Team within the Pennsylvania STD Program. He also serves as the program lead for the STD Program on the PA-NEDSS project. He has been assigned to the PA-NEDSS project since its inception and has been involved in all aspects of the project including the conceptual design, requirements gathering, development, outreach, and staff training. Prior to his role as the Senior Public Health Advisor for Pennsylvania, he served as the CDC NE Regional STD MIS Manager from 1997 through 2002 providing STD technical guidance to the states of Pennsylvania, New York, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, and Maine. In addition to his experience with the Pennsylvania Project, Mr. Kowalewski has worked in a number of other STD Programs throughout the country including Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Indianapolis, Indiana, and Chicago, Illinois. His experiences within these programs have included STD Clinic Manager, STD Program Manager, STD Corrections Coordinator and STD Field Investigator.
