Biographical Sketch:
Research Scientist 4 August 2000-present Bureau of STD Control, NYSDOH, Albany, N.Y. Design and conduct evaluation and research studies in special emphasis areas, including evaluation and monitoring of partner notification services for HIV, and individual behavioral and community interventions (including social marketing) for STD prevention. Oversee development of behavioral surveillance data system. Program oversight role for the STD/HIV Prevention Training Center, a CDC-funded regional training center serving (primarily) the eastern quadrant of the U.S. Health Education Media Specialist III 1992 – 2000 Marketing Research Specialist III 1989 - 1992 Bureau of Community Relations, NYSDOH, Albany, N.Y. Developed and evaluated health education and health communications (print and broadcast) campaign components, targeting health behavior change. Conducted market research to identify needs of target populations, pretest interventions and target social marketing campaigns. Developed and evaluated theory-based educational multimedia computer interventions (in HIV/AIDS risk reduction and in environmental education-radon) which used computer branching to deliver tailored educational interventions, and analyzed (using SAS) project evaluation data. Served as Distance Learning Coordinator for the New York State STD/HIV Prevention Training Center, including evaluation of effectiveness of distance learning technologies in reaching targeted clinicians. Clinical Assistant Professor 1979 - 1989 Department of Health Behavior and Health Education, University of North Carolina School of Public Health, Chapel Hill, N.C. Directed community service program with continuing education, training and research demonstration project focus; graduate teaching and advising.
