Biographical Sketch:
Areas of research specialization for Dr. Gilbert include: STD/HIV prevention; reproductive health/sex education and risk reduction; health education, communication and behavior change theory; and Internet and other innovative education and evaluation methods.
As Vice President at ASHA, Dr. Gilbert designs research methods for grant proposals; plans, implements, and evaluates sexually transmitted disease (STD) prevention projects; and designs and conducts qualitative and quantitative sexual health research studies. Dr. Gilbert serves as Principal Investigator on multiple CDC-funded Cooperative Agreements (including an online study consisting of a baseline survey, campaign evaluation, and intervention designed to increase awareness of and behavioral intention to receive hepatitis A and B vaccination among men who have sex with men), foundation and industry- funded grants, and contracts, disseminating results through reports, papers and presentations.
