Repeat chlamydial infections confer an elevated risk for PID and other complications. Accordingly, infected women are a major priority for retesting, as per CDC guidelines. However, few programs routinely monitor retesting rates or actively follow-up with clients who should be retested. Interventions to increase retesting rates in Seattle, San Francisco, and New York have had little impact despite careful planning and implementation. This presentation will review epidemiologic considerations for the role of retesting in addition to partner management strategies for reducing disease transmission and reinfection rates.
