The Four Directions Student Health Clinic operates in two high schools on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. Although the clinics were created originally to address high rates of teen pregnancy and STDs, we provide comprehensive adolescent health services, including health promotion and wellness, STD testing and treatment, HIV education and testing, birth control, pregnancy tests, HPV vaccines, and referrals. To be effective, it’s important for us to gain the trust of the students and provide a safe place for them to get their tough questions answered. We are often the main link they have to social services.
