Biographical Sketch:
2002-Present Supervisor, STD Surveillance and Case Management Investigates all reported cases of syphilis, triaging cases and assessing adequacy of treatment and need for further follow-up by Diseases Intervention Specialist (DIS). Supervises Case Management Team to ensure completeness and accuracy of sexually transmitted disease (STD) reporting and adequacy of treatment for STDs. Supervises the Data Manager to ensure that epidemiologic data are available for development and evaluation of Sentinel Surveillance activities. Supervises the Surveillance Coordinator's activities as they are related to collection and dissemination of data obtained from field projects that fall under Surveillance. Assures complete documentation of diagnosis and treatment for all other reportable STDs. Investigates all reported cases of HIV, determining need for further data collection and disease intervention. Collects and documents, both electronically and in hard copy, all suspected and potential cases of syphilis, HIV, N. gonorrhoeae, QRNG, and Chlamydia. Ensures compliance to all applicable state laws and rules with regards to STD reporting. 1997-2002 Disease Intervention Specialists Intervened in the spread of STDs, as well as, investigated reported, suspected and potential cases of STDs. Investigations included interviewing those infected with specific STDs, analyzing case information, interactions with health care providers, conducted computer record searches, and follow-up with patients/clients by telephone and /or in person. Documented investigations on forms required by Marion County Health Department (MCHD), Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH), and/or Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Interviews were for the purpose of providing health education, treatment documentation and partner elicitation/notification.
