Ms. Jett-Goheen is a certified Medical Technologist with over 20 years of bench experience in all areas of the clinical laboratory in various settings. She also has five years of experience as a Research Technician at the School of Public Health performing assays on specimens collected during human vaccine trials. Ms. Jett-Goheen has 10 years of progressive management experience, and was the supervisor of the clinical microbiology laboratory at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. As a qualified clinical laboratory technical director she has conducted training in laboratory procedures, raised skill levels of laboratorians, written and revised policies and procedures, prepared for regulatory agency inspections, monitored laboratory safety precautions for compliance, and found new and innovative ways for specimen collection and storage. At the JHU Center for Point-of-Care Testing for Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Ms. Jett-Goheen manages and assists the Center’s team by providing a clear picture of the intricacies of the clinical environment with regard to day-to-day operations, implementing POC testing, regulatory issues, and quality control and assessment. She works closely with the five cores of the project to ensure they work together collaboratively; assists core leaders by keeping them apprised of progress and performance; ensures responsiveness to members of the research community, members of the Center’s cores, POCT network members, and NIH/NIBIB staff. Ms. Jett-Goheen is the editor of the IUSTI-North America newsletter. She has been trained by laboratory staff in the International STD laboratory to perform testing for STD using nucleic acid technology.
