Biographical Sketch:
Peter C. Honebein, Ph.D. is aa Research Scientist with the Academic Edge, Inc., an educational media design studio. He is also an adjunct professor at Indiana University and University of Nevada, Reno, where he teaches course in marketing, customer experience design, human performance, and instructional strategy. As a designer and consultant, Dr. Honebein applies his vast knowledge of design, marketing, product development, and performance technology to solve novel problems related to human performance. He has created, marketed, and licensed commercial products such as DTP Advisor (Broderbund Software), the Bed&Body® Warmer, and Every Square Inch (a e-learning program for pressure ulcer risk reduction), and Just Ask (an e-learning program for STD assessment, screening, and treatment). He designed the system that tracked the cleanup of the Exxon Valdez oil spill, and consulted on the design, strategy, and launch of numerous innovations and products, including the system that sequenced the human genome and smart metering systems for a California utility. He is co-inventor on patent number 6,326,147, a device that automatically prepares samples for genetic analysis. Dr. Honebein is a two-time winner of the International Society for Performance Improvement’s (ISPI) Award of Excellence: one award for his book, Creating Do-It-Yourself Customers, and another for his work creating the Reality Plus™ line of training courses for Learning Tree International. He is also the author of the book Strategies for Effective Customer Education, and numerous articles on customer performance, adoption of innovations, and instructional strategy. Dr. Honebein is a frequent presenter at conferences sponsored by the American Marketing Association, American Public Health Association, Centers for Disease Control, Metering International, the Self-Service and Kiosk Industry, the International Society for Performance Improvement, and the Dutch media company VNU.
