Biographical Sketch:
Emily Godfrey, MD MPH is an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine, an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the School of Public Health at University of Illinois at Chicago and consultant physician for the Division of Family Planning in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County. Dr. Godfrey attended Medical College of Wisconsin, completed a residency at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, Illinois and received post-graduate fellowship training in Family Planning and a Masters in Public Health degree from the University of Rochester. Dr. Godfrey is board certified in Family Medicine. She directs the GYN/Women’s health rotation at the UIC Department of Family Medicine Residency Program, which is one of the most highly rated rotations in the residency program. Dr. Godfrey has been published in various scientific journals on medical abortion and emergency contraception. She also serves as a reviewer for several family medicine and reproductive health journals. Dr. Godfrey has served on the Board of Directors of Association of Reproductive Health Professionals since 2004 and participates as an expert faculty in medical abortion, manual vacuum aspiration and intrauterine contraception. As the sole family physician on the Board, Dr. Godfrey seeks to increase ARHP’s visibility and membership within the family medicine community and bring greater awareness of the importance of reproductive health to family physicians.
