Biographical Sketch:
Kari Gloppen is a Health Scientist in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Division of Adolescent and School Health, which seeks to promote the health and well-being of children and adolescents so they can become healthy and well-functioning adults. Kari serves as the DASH lead for cross-cutting adolescent health promotion strategies that impact priority health areas including sexual risk behaviors; tobacco, alcohol, and other drug use; unintentional injury and violence; nutrition, physical activity, and obesity; asthma; and infectious disease. Cross-cutting strategies include increasing school connectedness among students, integrating positive youth development strategies in to health and education programs, as well as positive parenting and parent involvement. She received a Masters of Public Health in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of North Carolina School of Public Health, and a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, and special education from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
