Biographical Sketch:
September ’08- present STD Surveillance Director March ’04- Epidemiologist and Surveillance Supervisor STD/HIV/AIDS Prevention Program, Puerto Rico Department of Health. Responsible for the STD Surveillance Data, ensuring the quality of the data. Responsible for the making of the reports and the uploads to the Center of Disease Control and Prevention of the USA. Evaluate the work of the people STD Surveillance having in charge Surveillance Auxiliaries Staff, an Epidemiologist, a Statistic expert and a System Administrator. Develop and implemented STD Surveillance Protocols, Development of the Outbreak Response Plan, I participate as a member of the STD/HIV/AIDS Prevention Program Management team, providing guidance and assistance to ensure that program decisions are made based on morbidity trends, I routinely collaborate with the Puerto Rico Infertility Prevention Program to ensure that they have up-to-date data. I collaborate with the Syphilis Elimination Project as one of the advisors in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the STD Outbreak Response Plan. I develop and disseminate reports of morbidity trends so that management can evaluate the effectiveness of the project. I am responsible for all the purchase orders for the materials needed for the function of the STD Surveillance Office. I work with the program administrator and other managers to ensure that my office is functioning at the optimum level. I represent the STD Surveillance Office in meetings with CDC advisors, state officials and Community Based Organizations. 150 hr/month Volunteer Service Aug. ´02- July ´03 Teacher Assistant Graduate School of Public Health, Medical Science Campus, University of Puerto Rico.
