Biographical Sketch:
Research Scientist, Bureau of STD Prevention and Epidemiology, AIDS Institute, NYSDOH - August 2000-present. Serve as Assistant Bureau Director and Director of the Bureau's Health Promotion and Prevention Science Unit. Design and conduct evaluation and research studies in special emphasis areas, including evaluation and monitoring of partner notification services for HIV, and individual behavioral and community interventions (including social marketing) for STD prevention. Oversee development of STD behavioral surveillance. Program oversight and staff supervision roles for the NYS STD/HIV Prevention Training Center, one of three regional training centers funded by CDC to provide Partner Services and Program Support training nationally. HEALTH EDUCATION MEDIA SPECIALIST III July 1992 – August 2000 MARKETING RESEARCH SPECIALIST III September 1989 - June 1992 Bureau of Community Relations, New York State Department of Health, Albany, N.Y. Developed and evaluated health education and health communications (print and broadcast) campaign components, targeting health behavior change. Conducted market research to identify needs of target populations, pretest interventions and target social marketing campaigns. Developed and evaluated theory-based educational multimedia computer interventions. CLINICAL ASSISTANT PROFESSOR 1979 - August 1989 EDUCATION CONSULTANT 1976 - 1978 Department of Health Behavior and Health Education, University of North Carolina School of Public Health, Chapel Hill, N.C. Directed department's "community service" program, which focused on the integration of research and practice through involving University-based faculty in provision of technical assistance and continuing education to human service and public health organizations seeking assistance in designing and evaluating effective health education, community outreach and health promotion programs. Project team roles in funded research/demonstration projects. Taught graduate courses, supervised community service requirement of field training; served as academic and masters paper advisor to M.P.H. students. Numerous presentations at scientific meetings, as well as limited publications in peer-reviewed journals.
