Biographical Sketch:
2010-present – Associate Professor of Nursing, Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL. Primary teaching responsibilities in Doctor of Nursing Practice Program (DNP) include Healthcare Policy, Healthcare Finance, Economics & Entrepreneurship, Health Systems Practicum I, II, & III. Research focus is one perinatal Research focus is on perinatal STD acquisition and outcomes, STD health policy implementation, adolescent screening practices and internet health seeking behaviors. Serves as the Coordinator of the Health Systems Leadership (HSL) Program including oversight and mentorship of students through practicums and DNP projects 2001-2010 – Chief, Bureau of STD Prevention and Control, Florida Department of Health, Tallahassee, FL. Directed development of replacement case management and surveillance system PRISM, the first copyrighted web-based system in the country. Directed development of STD Prevention Certification ,the first copyrighted program in the country for STD prevention and intervention professionals. Led comprehensive rewrite of Florida Administrative Code 64D-3 Control of Communicable Diseases and Conditions Which May Significantly Affect Public Health. Served as department wide liaison to review all surveillance and case reporting systems to assess options for improved efficiency and utilization of electronic laboratory enhancement and provide oversight of ongoing enhancements to surveillance application as completion in last step toward completely paperless electronic surveillance and case management operations. 1987-2001 – Nursing Consultant in Bureaus of Family Planning and STD Prevention and Control, Florida Department of Health, Tallahassee, FL Developed from inception the first public health NORPLANT Implant program in the country. Implemented expanded contraception options such as Depo-Provera, new generation oral contraceptives, sponges, IUDs etc. Served on Statewide Pharmacy Budget and Formulary Committees Author or coauthor of 12 publications and 21 presentations relating to sexually transmitted infections, programmatic delivery, electronic system or health care professionals’ performance.
