Biographical Sketch:
2011-Present--Communications Specialist, Philadelphia Department of Public Health, Division of Disease Control, Philadelphia, PA Composed and designed documents for the Teen STD/HIV Prevention Project, including but not limited to: press releases, policy documents and protocols, educational handouts and brochures. Developed content for websites for the Teen STD/HIV Prevention Project. Created information for dissemination through social media sites. Maintained and monitored social media sites. Evaluated media efforts for the Teen STD/HIV Prevention Project, including the development of reports and presentations, which could include tables, graphs and maps. Supported writing and media needs of program areas involved in the Philadelphia PCSI Initiative. 2010--School Health Connection Intern, Louisiana Public Health Institute, New Orleans, LA • Facilitate revision of the MindMatters behavioral health curriculum materials to make them culturally appropriate. • Served as a liason between the two pilot schools, School Health Conection and the School-Based Behavior Health (SBBH) Committee. • Analyzed 2009 YRBS data for New Orleans and created fact sheets 2010--Adolescent Health Project Intern, Mary Amelia Center, New Orleans, LA • Developed reproductive health curriculum modules designed for adolescents for local community agencies. • Conducted focus groups and key-informant interviews with local community centers, teens, and staff 2007-2009--Outreach Health Education Coordinator, Economic Opportunity Commission, San Luis Obispo, CA • Responsible for promotion of EOC Health Services (EOCHS) Clinics and Teen Wellness through educational presentations, individual and group outreach, and community events. • Conducted outreach activities including street outreach, staffing health fair booths, health education presentations and promotion of services at special events. • Provided sexual health education presentations to colleges and other appropriate youth serving agencies. • Provided condom counseling to include dispensing, required education and chart documentation, along with all patient forms in various settings including health fairs, and community events. 2006-2007--Coordinator, Cal Poly State University, Peer Health Education, San Luis Obispo, CA • Played a role in educating on risk prevention of STIs, healthy life choices and women’s health to my peers on Cal Poly campus through the form of educational workshops/presentations, one-on-one consultations, and health campaigns/events held on campus. • Attended Bacchus and Gamma conference in which professional health educators and speakers gave training sessions on educational workshops, leadership and communication skills. • In charge of team of 18 educators in which my tasks included organizing and holding meetings, displaying leadership, and guiding the team through motivation and inspiration. Assisted in interviewing and training future team members.
