Biographical Sketch:
Richie Diesterheft was a Disease Intervention Specialist (DIS) at Howard Brown Health Center from 2008-2010. He participated in Chicago’s Syphilis Elimination Task Force and worked on a social networking project focused on discovering HIV-positive persons through newly Syphilis-infected individual’s social networks. Prior to being a DIS, Richie student led an undergraduate course at DePaul University called “The Diverse Faces of AIDS” and volunteered for two and a half years as an HIV/STI test counselor at Howard Brown's "Broadway Youth Center." After graduating with his Bachelors degree, Richie served in the Peace Corps volunteering for the Dominican Republic’s health sector. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Nursing at DePaul University in Chicago.
