Biographical Sketch:
Career in Laboratory Science started as Medical Technologist in Guyana, South America at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. Worked for four years in Phlebotomy, Bacteriology, Hematology, Chemistry and Serology. During this time, was the acting supervisor of the Laboratory for six months. Also, taught Microbiology to the freshmen nurses. Upon completion of Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology in PA, USA and becoming American Society for Clinical Pathology certified, worked at Washington Hospital Center, Washington DC in Chemistry, Toxicology and Hematology. Also at Laurel Regional Hospital, Laurel MD, areas included Chemistry, Blood Bank and Coagulation. Presently employed at Johns Hopkins Hospital and University in the HIV Specialty Laboratory. Performing assays in Molecular-PCR, EIA, Western Blot, HIV RNA viral load (Quantitative), HIV RNA (Qualitative- NAAT testing), HIV DNA (Qualitative). Trained new employees in HIV Antibody testing and Western Blot procedure, HIV RNA PCR viral load testing, HIV DNA PCR testing. Setup and reviewed competency panels for employees, reviewed QC/QA to ensure employees remain component. Currently with the HIV Prevention Trials Network (HPTN) Network Lab at Johns Hopkins University as QA/QC coordinator, working with both domestic and international sites.
