Biographical Sketch:
Ms. Carol Magee joined the Los Angeles STD Program March, 2004, and she has worked in Community Based Organization HIV/Syphilis Testing Integration, Syphilis Elimination, and Community Mobilization. Prior to this, she was assigned to the STD Program in Chicago, IL. Ms. Magee is a Public Health Advisor with CDC and has been assigned to Chicago and Los Angeles STD Programs. During Ms. Magee’s tenure with the Chicago STD Program Ms. Magee worked with community, state ,federal leaders, the NAACP and the National Council of Negro Women, to establish HIV testing programs in community colleges, churches and community based organizations . During her tenure in Chicago, with the support of support of Chicago’s State Rep Constance Howard and Congressman Danny Davis she helped to establish Chicago’s 1st Black AIDS Walk. Since 2004, Ms. Magee has been active in Los Angeles communities, schools and churches to bring awareness to all sexually transmitted diseases including HIV. Ms. Magee expanded outreach activities with Los Angeles Mobile Testing and implemented HIV testing with the testing program. Ms. Magee has worked with state, local, national and international representatives to promote and implement,train healthcare providers in public health activities. Ms. Magee has been recognized twice with the Secretary’s Award from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for her outstanding work in public health.
