Biographical Sketch:
Health Equity Fellow jointly for NCSD and NASTAD (40hrs/wk) 08/11- present • Facilitating the development of a survey, which will measure the prevalence and impact of stigma among service providers • Developing an Optimal Care-Checklist approved by public health practitioners who deliver care to Black and Latino Men who have Sex with Men (MSM) • Creating Health-promotion materials and fact sheets that can be used by health departments to promote Stigma-free health care. • Co-authoring an issue brief detailing the findings from the stigma survey, and a policy primer highlighting approaches to reduce stigma within public health practice • Conducting a series of webinars tailored to key groups regarding stigma, HIV and STDs (e.g., health department HIV/AIDS and STD programs, community stakeholders, and medical providers). • Submitting Abstracts to the United States STD Prevention Conference in Minneapolis Minnesota Ministry of Health, Barbados: Research and Fulbright Fellow (40hrs/wk) 01/10-01/11 • Conducted a Qualitative Research Study: with 25 incarcerated men at Her Majesty Prison Dodds, St. Phillip • Looked at incarcerated men’s health-seeking, sexual and risk behaviors and their socio-economic background • Taught Sexual Health Education Classes in Her Majesty’s Prison to 60 incarcerated males • A contributing member on the National HIV Testing Policy • A contributing member to the Contact Tracing/Partner Notification document Fulbright Alumni Ambassador 01/11- present • Speaking and Traveling on behalf of the Fulbright Program • Writing articles and blog posts that promote the mission of the Fulbright Program • Facilitating Foreign Fulbright Scholars Enhancement Seminars across the US: Video-recording sessions, facilitating workshops, planning and writing agendas, and participating in community services Risk-behaviors and Vulnerabilities of Incarcerated men’s in Barbados* pending publication • Drafting papers for publications • Providing data-based reports and policy recommendations to Ministry of Health and Ministry of Home Affairs • Submitting an Abstracts to 2011 Caribbean HIV Conference: Strengthening Evidence to Achieve Sustainable Action • Submitting an Abstracts to the 2012 Caribbean Regional Health Council Annual Research Conference Rapporteur at the First Annual PEPFAR Caribbean Region-wide Meeting, Barbados 01/11 • Recorded the comments made by each Ambassador, Minister or Diplomat • Contributed to Chargé d’Affaires Brent Hardt closing points and the event’s action plan Black Youth Project: Professor Cathy J.
