Biographical Sketch:
September 2009 – Present Family Nurse Practitioner, Crownpoint Healthcare Facility, Crownpoint, New Mexico (full-time) Responsible for clinic duties in adult and pediatric continuity clinics as well as Urgent Care. Patient load of at least 4 patients per hour, >20 per day. Also duties included management of HIV screening grant, Reach Out and Read program, Child Protection Team and Health Careers Mentoring Program. I also designed and implemented training programs for nursing staff on HIV and STD screening, transgender sensitivity, and triage. June 2006 – February 2007: Site Coordinator, Rwanda-Zambia HIV Research Group, Kitwe, Zambia Promotion from Lusaka sites. Managed day-to-day activities of clinical staff, reception, data department, and lab in HIV vaccine research project. Oversaw administrative functions, site maintenance, and logistics. Coordinated community outreach activities. Applied quality control/quality assurance standards to all data gathered in the clinic. Implemented protocol changes and new studies in the field. Trained staff on subsequent changes. Prepared reports and minutes for Emory and University of Washington and maintained linkages with sites in Lusaka, Zambia and Rwanda. September 2006 – February 2007: Reproductive Health Consultant (part-time), All Terrain Services Group/Equinox Mining, Lumwana, Zambia Gave workshops on STDs/HIV and other reproductive health issues to mine employees. Provided guidance on reproductive health issues to the mine’s health and safety officer and clinic staff. Promoted linkages between mine and local health organizations. March 2005 – June 2006: Interdepartmental Liaison/Acting Medical Team Leader, Rwanda-Zambia HIV Research Group, Lusaka, Zambia Managed day-to-day functioning of clinical staff and reception in busy HIV vaccine research project. Applied quality control/quality assurance standards to all data gathered in the clinic. Implemented protocol changes and new studies in the field. Trained staff on subsequent changes. Developed Standard Operating Procedures for large, multi-site Phase III clinical trial. Prepared reports and minutes for Emory University and maintained linkages with sites in Northern Zambia and Rwanda. Worked with IAVI and Gates Foundation. May 2004 – August 2004: Intern, Indian Health Service, National STD Program, Albuquerque, NM Planned and implemented a pilot STD testing project at Window Rock Detention Center. Duties for this project were primarily administrative and logistical: budget preparation, facilitating inter-agency meetings, preparing presentations and documents on the proposed testing activities, drafting letters of support and memorandums of agreement, communicating with multiple IRPBs, and training and management of project staff. Developed a guidance document about STD testing in tribal jails, which was published by IHS/CDC. Assisted in grant-writing and chart review.
