Biographical Sketch:
2008-present -- Epidemiologist, BC Centre for Disease Control, Vancouver, BC 2006-2008 -- Research Assistant, McGill University Health Centre, Montreal, QC 2004-2006 -- Research Assistant, Research Section, AIDS Office, San Francisco Department of Public Health, San Francisco, CA 2002-2004 -- Community Health Specialist, Asian Health Services, Oakland, CA Ten years of public health experience, including extensive work in HIV/STD research and prevention. Responsible for development and maintenance of surveillance systems related to HIV and STDs for the Canadian province of British Columbia. Lead epidemiologist/analyst and author of various surveillance products, including reports for public/lay audiences and scientific summaries. Member/provincial representative of national (Canadian) working group for STD surveillance, and invited participant at national STD research meetings. Co-author of 11 published, 2 in-press, and 2 in-preparation scientific/peer-reviewed papers (including 4 first authorships). Five presentations at scientific conferences. Recipient of Canadian Association for HIV/AIDS Research (CAHR) New Investigator Award, 2008, and British Columbia Provincial Health Officer’s Award for Excellence in Public Health, 2010 (for excellence in surveillance monitoring and applied public health research during the 2009 H1N1 Pandemic).
