Biographical Sketch:
Peter Kerndt, MD, MPH, is currently Director of the STD Program at Los Angeles County Department of Public Health since 2000. Prior to that time he served as Director of the Department's HIV Epidemiology Program for 11 years.
Dr. Kerndt has published more than 70 papers in professional journals on HIV and other STDs and first encountered AIDS while he was working as a medical intern at San Francisco General Hospital in 1979.
Dr. Kerndt began his career in public health in 1985 at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer.
Dr. Kerndt is board certified in Internal Medicine and Preventive Medicine and Public Health and has a Masters in Public Health from UCLA and had numerous presentations at scientific meetings.
