Biographical Sketch:
Daniel Pohl is the Manager of Disease Intervention Services at Howard Brown Health Center. Located in Chicago, Howard Brown is the Midwest’s largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender health organization. Mr. Pohl started at Howard Brown in 2001 and has been the Manager of Disease Intervention Services for the last six years. In this role, he manages two full-time and one half-time DIS staffmembers and oversees all partner services at the site that has the city’s highest morbidity for syphilis among MSM. In his ten years at Howard Brown, Mr. Pohl has developed curricula and provided trainings for health department staff on cultural competency with LGBT populations and providing HIV/STD prevention education and partner services via the internet. He has also been the author or co-author on a number of abstracts and presentations given at HIV/STD prevention conferences and summits, including lead authorship of the oral presentation "Discordant Syphilis EIA Test Results: Are Newer Tests Better?" at 2010's National STD Prevention Conference in Atlanta, GA.
