Biographical Sketch:
My professional and academic career has been focused on the planning, implementation and evaluation of school- worksite- an community-based health education/health promotion programs. I have conducted research in elementary, middle and high schools throughout Louisiana, and have participated as PI, Co-PI or Co-Investigator in the development of the following health curricula: 1) Health Ahead/Heart Smart, 2) Gimme 5, Fresh Fruit/Vegetables, 3) Child & Adolescent Trial for Cardiovascular Health (CATCH), 4) Acadiana Coalition of Teens against Tobacco (ACTT), 5) Trial of Activity for Adolescent Girls (TAAG), and 6) ACTION-A Wellness Program for School Personnel. I teach a course in Human Sexual Behavior from a psychosocial perspective in which students are constantly trying to solve the problem of teen pregnancy prevention in a state that does not allow contraception information in public schools. I was PI on the Students of Service abstinence-based life skills curriculum for prevention of teen pregnancy.
