Biographical Sketch:
Candy Hadsall is the STD Clinical Nurse Consultant at the MN Department of Health, STD and HIV Section. She coordinates chlamydia and gonorrhea screening projects at several clinic sites in the Twin Cities metro area and across the state. She speaks regularly to health care providers about the epidemic of chlamydia in Minnesota and how to improve screening, treatment and reporting rates. She is also the creator and convener of the Minnesota Chlamydia Partnership, a statewide coalition organized in 2010 to raise awareness about the epidemic of chlamydia and collaborate with stakeholders in addressing the issue. Candy is the main author of the new Minnesota Chlamydia Strategy, released in April 2011. Candy Hadsall has over 25 years of experience in various areas of health care, social services, and community concerns. Her special interests include sexuality education and reproductive health care, sexually transmitted diseases, child and adolescent welfare, women’s mental health and other women’s issues, teen pregnancy, sexual assault, violence, family and relationship dysfunction, and recovery from chemical dependence. Ms. Hadsall has worked intensively with youth, adults, and families in crisis, particularly including survivors of rape and childhood sexual abuse, as well as perpetrators. She has worked in many community settings including schools K-12, churches, social service agencies, health clinics, and correctional facilities.
