Biographical Sketch:
August 2011 to Present -- Microbiologist, CDC, Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention, Laboratory Branch.
Research projects focus on evaluating immunological and other susceptibility factors relevant to STI coinfection and enhancement of HIV infection risk.
August 2009 to August 2011 -- American Society for Microbiology Infectious Disease Postdoctoral Research Fellow, CDC, Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention
Responsible for development of STI Coinfection model in pigtailed macaques. First documentation of triple infection in pigtail macaques, utilizing Chlamydia trachomatis, Trichomonas vaginalis, and SHIV-SF162p3. (Henning, et al, J Med Primatol, 2011).
2003 to 2009 -- Doctoral and thesis research at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center New Orleans. Research included longitudinal clinical study in HIV-infected women to evaluate and characterize HIV levels and genotypes in plasma and vaginal and cervical secretions and monitor changes in the genital microenvironment in order to define mechanism(s) of HIV shedding in the female genital tract (Henning, et al, JID 2010, J. Clin Virol 2009, and Randolph, Virol J 2008).
