Biographical Sketch:
Mena got her BA in Psychology from UCLA. After graduating, she worked as a Research Associate for the UCLA Clinical Immunology and Research Lab, working on studies such as the LA Mens Study, which documented the natural history of HIV/AIDS among men who have sex with men. After leaving UCLA, she joined the Public Affairs team at AIDS Healthcare Foundation, where she focused on government affairs and advocacy. During her tenure at AHF, she lobbied members of Congress to advance the agency's legislative agenda, managed drug advocacy efforts to increase global access to ART and worked on educating the public on misleading direct-to-consumer marketing by pharmaceutical companies. She also helped to pursue funding and partnership opportunities for the AHF Asia Pacific Bureau. Upon leaving AHF, Mena attended UCLA to earn a Masters in Public Health in the community health sciences division. In her current position as Associate Director of Public Health, oversees the AHF Linkage to Care program, which links newly diagnosed and out of care individuals into medical care across AHF's programs nationwide.
