Biographical Sketch:
I have been active in the field of the biology, epidemiology and diagnostics of sexually transmitted infections (STI) for 30 years with a focus on development, evaluation and application of diagnostic assays for STI, particularly molecular diagnostics. My research aims to improve our understanding of the biological and behavioral factors that affect susceptibility to, and distribution of, STI. I have been a member of research teams involved in studies related to women’s reproductive health in the US and in sub-Saharan African where I have also supported technology transfer and laboratory standardization projects in conjunction with local laboratories.
