Biographical Sketch:
The Counseling and Testing Coordinator (CTC) manages statewide STD counseling and testing activities and functions as the Viral Hepatitis Prevention Coordinator (partial salary covered by CDC Viral Hepatitis Prevention Coordinator Grant and remainder of salary by STD AAPPS Grant). Responsibilities include: monitoring and evaluating weekly reporting from LHDs, commercial and private laboratories; coordinating gonorrhea and Chlamydia screening; coordinating the management and evaluation of HIV counseling and testing at STD clinics; assisting in the training of LHD DIS staff; coordinating Chlamydia and gonorrhea targeted screening; collaborating with IDPH laboratories on STD testing policies and activities; coordinating the integration of viral hepatitis services into existing STD, HIV and drug treatment clinical services; providing liaison to the Gonorrhea Isolate Surveillance Program GISP (a national surveillance system to identify and monitor antibiotic resistant gonorrhea); coordinating responses to IDPH Internet STD questions and posting technical information on the STD Section's Intranet channels; and serving in a leadership role in the planning of the annual IDPH statewide HIV/STD Conference. During this budget period, the CTC will be responsible for ensuring the completion and evaluation of screening, prevalence monitoring, and laboratory reporting activities/grant objectives.
