Biographical Sketch:
I am a board-certified Infectious Disease physician with 14 years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of STD in adolescents and young adults. As an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), I designed, implemented, and evaluated multiple public health interventions. In my current position as the Medical Epidemiologist for the STD Control Program, Philadelphia Department of Public Health and as a Field Medical Officer for the Division of STD Prevention, CDC, I focus on the individual and population-level prevention of STD, particularly CT, GC, and syphilis, as well as HIV. I have collaborated extensively with community-based organizations and local academic institutions to implement STD screening and risk reduction activities for bacterial STD, including condom distribution, provider outreach and educational materials, and novel community-based screening programs. My recent work has included an extensive evaluation of the Philadelphia High School STD Screening Program (PHSSSP), a local screening program reaching thousands of economically and socially disadvantaged students.
