Biographical Sketch:
February 2009 - present State of Alaska, Department of Health and Social Services, Division of Public Health, Section of Public Health Nursing South Central Regional Nurse Manager Responsible for the administration and management of 7 public health nursing centers in the South Central Region; Wasilla, Glennallen, Valdez, Cordova, Seward, Kenai and Homer. Responsible for assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating public health nursing programs and services; assigning, directing, supervising and evaluating work of 47 employees; overseeing regional strategic planning, budget and facility management; and providing regional and community health leadership through collaboration, coordination and networking with local governments, partner agencies and the public. July 2006 – February 2009 State of Alaska, Department of Health and Social Services, Division of Public Health, Section of Public Health Nursing Nurse Manager – Bethel Regional Public Health Center Responsible for the administration and management of public health nursing services in the Bethel sub-region which includes the city of Bethel and 38 surrounding villages with a population of roughly 25,000 residents (85% of which are Alaska Natives) November 2004 – July 2006 State of Alaska, Department of Health and Social Services, Division of Public Health, Section of Public Health Nursing Public Health Nurse – Bethel Regional Public Health Center Assessed, implemented, and evaluated public health nursing interventions at the individual/family, community, and systems level of population-based practice. Co-coordinated Staff Development workshops on how to incorporate a population based approach to public health nursing. August 1999 – July 2001 Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center – Baltimore, MD August 2001 to September 2003 Clinical One: National Healthcare Professionals and Med Staff, Inc. Emergency Department, RN Functioned as a registered nurse in a 28-bed Level II trauma/emergency department. Served a diverse population; pediatrics to geriatrics, homeless to affluent in the heart of Baltimore. Managed industrial accidents, environmental emergencies, trauma, cardiac disease, substance abuse, OB/GYN, and other medical emergencies. July 1995 – December 1997 United States Peace Corps – Antigua, WI Health and Physical Education Resource Teacher Assisted in the development and implementation of a National Health and Physical Education Curriculum for the island of Antigua, West Indies. Facilitated a network between local health centers and their respective schools to establish a system of compiling and maintaining student health records.
