Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Widdice is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Her research interests include adolescent reproductive health and sexually transmitted infections. She completed medical school at the University of Washington in Seattle, her pediatrics training at the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center, and her adolescent medicine fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. Upon completion of fellowship, she joined the faculty of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in the Division of Adolescent Medicine. Dr. Widdice's current research efforts focus on human papillomavirus epidemiology and HPV vaccination immunogenicity and delivery. Before attending medical school, Dr. Widdice worked in the biotechnology industry in the manufacturing and research and development of both point-of-care and ELISA diagnostic tests. For this grant, she will assist Dr. Huppert on studies of self-administered vaginal and male urethral swab collection and testing for sexually transmitted infections using point-of-care test devices in clinical settings involving adolescent men and women. In addition, she will assist co-investigators in needs assessment for sexually transmitted infection diagnostic tests and in developing a reliable scoring system for point-of-care test devices.
