Biographical Sketch:
Founded National Laboratory for STIs in Canada during the 1980s; Director and founding member, Coordinating Centre for the Gonococcal Antimicrobial Surveillance Program in Latin America and the Caribbean (GASP-LAC); reseacher in STI field; publications in diverse areas including basic biology of Neiserria gonorrhoeae, molecular typing and antimicrobial susceptibility; consulted with international agencies on STIs including WHO, PAHO and other national public health organizations.
