Biographical Sketch:
2010-present, Additional Professor of Microbiology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi;

2003-07, Assistant Professor of Microbiology, AIIMS, New Delhi;
I am a MEMBER of National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS)-India.
I am working on cutting edge technologies for STI detection e.g., development of a DNA Biosensor (2007-11) and LAMP (2009-12) for the diagnosis of Gonorrhoea with financial assistance from DBT, GOI. Also, working on already established technologies. Responsible for development of an in-house PCR for diagnosis of N. gonorrhoeae. This PCR has been extensively validated in our population. (2008-13)
Responsible for establishing a nation-wide multi-centric network (ICMR) in India (involving six centers) for surveillance of AMR for N. gonorrhoeae (2010-13). Have now proposed the expansion of the network to cover the secondary care hospitals too.
Presently working on molecular mechanisms of drug resistance in gonococci (2013) and alternate treatment options for N. gonorrhoeae (2012-14)
Author of one text book titled "Microbiology for Nurses" published by ELSEVIER and two chapters in book. Have published over 65 research papers relating to infectious diseases and over 20 in the field of STIs. Have presented 15 papers in Scientific meetings in the last 8 years and was co-author in 24 papers. I have one PATENT and received the Best Poster Award in the Basic Science Category in 12th IUSTI World Congress (2011). Recipient of other awards in STI research (RA Bhujwala award 2011-12 & Dr. P.S. Ranganathan Prize & Gold medal 2013) and IUSTI scholarships (2009, 2011, 2012).
Currently, the Assistant Editor of Indian Journal of Medical Microbiology (IJMM), Member of Advisory Committee- Journal of Indian Medical Association (JIMA), Member of IUSTI, National Mentoring Committee constituted by National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), Indian Association of STD & AIDS, IAMM & IMA.
Appointed as Expert by NACO for evaluation of Regional STI centers of the country. Supervisor and Co supervisor of MD and PhD students. Reviewer for National/ International journals.
