Biographical Sketch:
Medical Epidemiologist, CDC – 1990-2000. design and conduct of operational research projects on HIV prevention, counseling, and testing Chief, Lab Determinants and Diagnostics Section, Prevention Services Research Branch, 2000 - 2002 CHIEF, LAB DETERMINANTS AND DIAGNOSTICS SECTION, CDC 2000-2002 -- Evaluate HIV diagnostic methods; provide technical assistance on methods for enhanced international HIV surveillance Associate Director for Laboratory Diagnostics, Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention, 2003 – present – Coordinate development, evaluation, and deployment of HIV diagnostics including rapid HIV tests and assays for HIV incidence; formulate development and evaluation of diagnostic algorithms for HIV infection. Publications: Co-authored more than 70 publications in peer-reviewed journals, 16 MMWR artivles; lead author for 1998 CDC recommendation for rapid HIV testing, 2006 CDC recommendation for HIV screening in Health Care Settings, and pending 2014 CDC updated recommendations for laboratory diagnosis of HIV infection.
