Biographical Sketch:
1996-1998 -- Research Coordinator, Department of Epidemiology, School of Public Health, University of Alabama at Birmingham, Birmingham, AL 1998-present -- Director, Health Informatics & Integrated Surveillance Systems, Division of Disease Prevention, Virginia Department of Health, Richmond, VA 2008-present -- Clinical Instructor, Department of Epidemiology and Community Health, School of Medicine, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA Responsible for coordination of PSA laboratory and slippage/breakage testing for female condom trials, and development and qualitative interviewing for a nested study of male partners (1996-98). Responsible for HIV/STD epidemiology assessment and evaluation, data reporting and health informatics activities related to data administration, GIS and electronic laboratory reporting. Serve as Principal Collaborator for enhanced surveillance grant initiatives (1998-present). Responsible for lecturing and course development for MPH students related to GIS, community assessment and public health informatics (2008-present). Recipient of the 2004 VDH Public Health Hero award for outstanding public health service. Participant in the CDC-sponsored Public Health Informatics 10x10 course administered through the American Medical Informatics Association (2007-2008). Coauthor of a data suppression publication related to STD programs. Author or coauthor on six publications to be published in November 2009 related to enhanced surveillance activities such as geocoding, GIS infrastructure, data matching, data reporting and assessment of relevant application systems. Numerous presentations at scientific meetings including STD prevention conferences, Public Health Information Network (PHIN) conferences and meetings of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA).
