Biographical Sketch:
Matthew Hogben, PhD, is the Chief of the Social & Behavioral Research & Evaluation Branch in the Division of STD Prevention, NCHHSTP. Dr. Hogben assumed the role of branch chief in March, 2007, having previously served as a behavioral scientist in the same branch. At CDC, in collaborative settings, Dr. Hogben has principally conducted reviews and primary research in sexual health care-seeking and provision and innovative models of partner services for persons infected with STD and HIV. In recent years, this has included roles in policy research, generating guidelines, and program science, an overarching framework that includes program activity and research together. Prior to joining CDC in 1999, Dr. Hogben completed a doctorate in social psychology at the State University of New York (SUNY) and a post-doctoral fellowship at the Department of Preventive Medicine and Community Health at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Activities pertinent to these topics may be found in approximately 90 journal articles, book chapters and CDC reports.
