Biographical Sketch:
Sepehr Tabrizi has received his PhD from the University of Melbourne and has worked in the field of sexually transmitted infection (STI) research for over 25 years. He is a molecular microbiologist with considerable expertise in the development of molecular diagnostic methods for detection of STIs and their clinical translation. He is currently the senior scientist in charge of the Molecular Microbiology Laboratory at the Royal Women’s Hospital and a Professor at the University of Melbourne, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Tabrizi’s research has had a strong focus on using molecular tools for better understanding disease transmission and epidemiology of STIs, as well as clinical translation of research findings which have led to improvements in the diagnosis, management and prevention of STIs.
