Biographical Sketch:
Temi Folaranmi is currently serving as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer in the Meningitis and Vaccine Preventable Diseases Branch (MVPDB) in the Division of Bacterial Diseases of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD). Prior to joining the EIS, Temi worked with United Nations Populations Fund as a National Program Analyst where his work focused on providing technical assistance on population health, maternal and child health and HIV prevention to state governments in Nigeria. He also worked as a clinician providing medical services in resources poor settings. Since joining MVPDB in 2014, his works have focused on the risk factors for meningococcal disease among high risk groups, systematic review of pertussis in Latin America and the evaluation and strengthening of meningococcal disease surveillance systems in Ethiopia, grading of evidence in ACIP recommendation for the use of Meningococcal serogroup B vaccines in the United States as well as the following outbreak and emergency response activities: meningococcal vaccination campaign in a university, Meningococcal disease outbreak among MSM in Chicago, Ebola outbreak response support at the CDC’s Emergency Operation Center and Medical management support for Ebola vaccine trial in Sierra Leone.
