Biographical Sketch:
Carole is presently the Project Director for of two NIH-funded grants. A NIMHD-R24 grant pilot testing a multilevel health promotion intervention using a Community-based Participatory approach to educate and provide screening for diabetes, heart disease and stroke in African American churches. A NIMH-RO1 grant focusing on increasing access to HIV screening in African American churches. She has explored faith based capacity building during her recent experience as Co-Project Director of the Heartland Health Network, a project that established a model partnership network between academic health researchers, the African American faith-based community, and community-based health service organizations to address health disparities in African American communities. She has over 20 years of experience working with community and faith based organizations where she held numerous leadership roles that focused mostly on health promotion and education
