Biographical Sketch:
2014 to present: Clinical Instructor in Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Immunology, UMass Memorial Medical Center & UMass Medical School, Worcester, MA 2014-present: Fellow, Sylvie Ratelle STD/HIV Prevention Training Center, Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Jamaica Plain, MA 2015: Scholar, 23rd Annual Principles of STD/HIV Research Course, University of Washington, Seattle, WA 2011-2014: Fellow in Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Boston Medical Center, Boston, MA 2007-2010: Resident in Pediatrics, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, Pittsburgh, PA As a fellow at the Department of Public Health, I have participated in curriculum development, training and technical assistance for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of STDs and HIV for healthcare professionals in New England as part of a National Network of STD/HIV Prevention Training Centers. I have lectured to several clinicians in both MA and CT as part of our STD Clinical Intensive Program (see Wangu et al, Sex Transm Dis. 2016;43(2):134-136). My major project foci have included analysis of consecutive reportable STD cases in Connecticut for the purposes of targeting and aggregating clinician types for training and technical assistance, and examining laboratory systems changes in order to support syphilis screening in men who have sex with men in Massachusetts. Furthermore, as an attending physician in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at UMass, I am the principal investigator for a pilot project examining STD and contraception knowledge in high-risk youth atttending the JobCorps program in Massachusetts.
