Biographical Sketch:
ORISE Fellow – Guest Researcher • Participating in the development and implementation of an ELISA for the quantitation of specific IgG and IgM antibodies against the Non-Treponemal Antigen (T. pallidum Nichols strain) • Responsible for developing a process for the purification of specific IgG and IgM antibodies against the Non-Treponemal Antigen for use as universal standards in the quantitative Non-Treponemal ELISA. • Have scaled up the purification process for isolation of specific Non-Treponemal IgG/IgM antibodies. • Improving the process for the derivatization of Cardiolipin for use in the Non-Treponemal ELISA. • Participating in the development of a rapid test for Congenital Syphilis. BECTON DICKINSON/LEE LABORATORIES, Grayson, GA July 1991 to October 2010 Senior Scientist Responsible for project management, product development/cost and process improvement. Provided technical support to the Marketing Department by interfacing with customers and also participated in customer visits and trade shows. In charge of setting up the R&D laboratory for new product development and product improvement for In Vitro Diagnostic Reagent Products. • Successful development of antibody reagents used for Immuno-assay development by the application of methods/techniques listed above. • Created production formulas and testing procedures for new products developed. • Responsible for writing and submitting requests for the purchase of capital equipment. • Responsible for planning and executing research in the development of new products. • Helped the Manufacturing Department improve existing procedures through process improvements. • Received three patents for C.difficile Toxin A purification and Toxin A antibody development. • Wrote Product Development Management program and prepared the R&D Dept. for the successful ISO 9001 certification. Directed a number of successful new product development projects.
