Biographical Sketch:
Aron Janssen, M.D., is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and an Attending Physician at the NYU Child Study Center. He is the clinical director of the Gender and Sexuality Service and Co-Director of the NYU Consultation-Liaison Service. His primary academic focus is on gender and sexuality development and gender variance in childhood and adolescence. Dr. Janssen graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in biochemistry from the University of Colorado at Boulder and received his M.D. from the University of Colorado. Prior to joining the NYU Child Study Center, he completed his general psychiatry residency and child psychiatry fellowship at NYU/Bellevue. While in training, he created the LGBT mental health elective and continues to oversee its operation. Dr. Janssen is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, American Psychiatric Association, and World Professional Association for Transgender Health. He has published in several journals and books and presented on transgender youth nationally, internationally and on television.
