A15: Computer-Based Application Demonstrations: Use of Immunization Registries and Information Technology Tools to Improve Decision Making and Provision of Immunization Services

Presenters will demonstrate the functionality of web-based immunization tracking systems and the integration of other information technology tools, specifically geographic information systems (GIS), which can contribute to the understanding and characterization of the epidemiology of a disease outbreak. The presenters will also discuss the collaborations necessary for developing systems that meet the needs of end users.
Learning Objectives: The participant should be able to (1) describe the key features of web-based immunization tracking systems, (2) describe how GIS can be used to understand and epidemiologically define an outbreak and visualize its spread, and (3) discuss how collaborative partnerships can lead to technical innovation and improved quality of care.
